Here are some of the great expressions that Mustafa used in our IELTS mock test. You can do the quiz below to review them after!

⭐ Culturally diverse backgrounds = from different cultures
 → Uzbek people are extremely friendly, especially to those coming from culturally diverse backgrounds.

⭐ Down-to-earth = practical, reasonable, and friendly
 → My Uzbek friends are down-to-earth.

⭐ Modernised = become more modern
 → My city has become more modernised compared to 2015. Nowadays, we have more skyscrapers, fancy cafés, modern buildings, and so much more.

⭐ Thanks to… = on account of, because of
 → The education system has also changed a lot. Nowadays, we have more international universities and colleges, thanks to the government.

⭐ Physical health and mental health = health of the body and mind
 → When I was a child, I was a big fan of riding bicycles. It was not only healthy for my physical health, but also for my mental health.

⭐ Environmentally-friendly = not harmful to the environment or trying to help the environment
 → Bicycles are environmentally-friendly.

⭐ Time will tell… = the truth will only be known at some point in the future
 → I hope people realise the importance of riding bicycles so that they can do something to benefit the environment and the ecosystem. So yeah, God knows what’s going to happen 20 years from now, but we’ll see. Time will tell…

⭐ Work-life balance = a reasonable distribution of time spent on work and personal life
 → Murad Nazarov is a successful entrepreneur who’s got a healthy work-life balance.

⭐ Active user of social media = someone who uses social media regularly
 → He’s a very active user of social media.

⭐ Have a huge following  = have a lot of supporters or have lots of followers on social media
 → He has a huge following on social media, and I am one of his followers.

⭐ Have some level of confidence = to be somewhat confident and to believe in oneself
 → If somebody wants to be the leader of a company, that person has to have some level of confidence.

⭐ Strike a balance = to have an equal/proper/correct amount of importance for each thing
 → In the 21st century, things are getting more flexible so it’s very important to strike a balance between being agreeable and disagreeable.

⭐ Hypothetically speaking = Use before giving a scenario that’s not necessarily real/true
 → During our parents and grandparents’ time, things were totally different. Hypothetically speaking, if I could go back to the 1940s, I would love to do that and see what’s happening in the business world, but it’s impossible.

⭐ Ethos = the set of beliefs/ideas about a person/group’s social behaviour & relationships
 → According to my parents, the business world was different. People would act according to the ethos of the companies. But these days, that’s not the case.

⭐ Pay off = to be successful
 → Hard work always pays off. It’s important in every area of life, not only business.

⭐ Let’s imagine this = think about this imaginary/hypothetical  situation
 → Well, let’s imagine this. If I’m a very successful person but very disagreeable, I cannot be a good teammate because there has to be some healthy reciprocity between team members. If I get into arguments or physical fights easily, it’s not likely to make me successful in our team.
