How to use your 1-MINUTE PREP TIME in IELTS Speaking Part 2

In Part 2 of the IELTS Speaking Test, you get 1 minute to prepare before you have to speak for 2 minutes. It’s important to use your one-minute preparation time wisely. I suggest you think of a story you would like to tell. A good idea is to use the PPF method:

Past, Present, Future.

For example, I’ll talk about my phone if I get a task card that asks me to “describe an object that is special to you”.

Past – First, focusing on the past, I could talk about how my life was before I got this phone.

Present – In the present, I could talk about how I use my phone.

Future – In the future, I could talk about a different phone I want to buy or reflect on whether I think it was worth the money I paid for it.

Practice the PPF technique before your real IELTS Speaking Test.
